Papillion keeps humming along this week. The comment window on Amazon's drone-delivery plan has closed, but a final decision is still pending. A new fast-casual spot is throwing open its doors on Olson Drive, and the Sarpy County Board is back at the dais after a week off for tax hearings. Amazon's drone-delivery review closes, but the FAA hasn't ruled yet. The 30-day public comment window on the FAA's draft environmental assessment for Amazon's Prime Air drone program at the Papillion fulfillment center closed Wednesday, July 22 (as previewed in last week's issue). As of this writing, the FAA has not announced a Finding of No Significant Impact or any other final decision, so the program's launch date out of the Papillion facility still depends on federal sign-off. In the meantime, we looked through the local Facebook comments on the plan: most people were excited about the convenience (with plenty of practical questions about deliveries to apartments and backyards), a smaller group raised concerns about airspace, noise, and visual clutter, a few joked about shooting the drones down, and several had genuine questions about how pets and wildlife nearby might react. The formal comment period has closed, so there's no more public input to submit on this round, but you can track the FAA's forthcoming decision on its drone environmental review page, or route ongoing concerns to the City through the City Council's contact page.
Crisp & Green is opening its first Papillion location this weekend. The fast-casual salad and bowl chain is holding its grand opening celebration Friday, July 31 through Saturday, August 1, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at its new spot at 304 Olson Dr #111. Sarpy County Board returns to its regular Tuesday slot. After skipping last week's session for property valuation protest hearings, the Board of Commissioners meets again Tuesday, July 28 at 3 p.m. at the County Courthouse Boardroom, 1210 Golden Gate Dr. Agendas are posted a few days ahead on the county's CivicWeb portal; written comment can be submitted to the County Clerk ahead of the meeting. No regular Papillion City Council meeting this week. The Council meets on the first and third Tuesdays of the month, so after last week's session its next regular meeting is Tuesday, August 4.

Slow down: a statewide speed-enforcement campaign is underway. The Papillion Police Department has joined NHTSA's "Speeding Catches Up With You" campaign, running July 27 through August 9, with extra patrols focused on speed enforcement citywide. City announcement
