GreenState Credit Union has opened its second Nebraska branch, in Papillion. The Iowa-based credit union held a ribbon cutting with the Sarpy Chamber of Commerce on September 1 at its new office, 14915 Crest Road. We still can't independently confirm the outcome of three items from the September 1 Council meeting covered in past issues: the "Schram 84" rezoning near S 84th St and Schram Rd (ORD. 2098), the final vote on the animal care ordinance (ORD. 2095), and the preliminary plat for "Dowd's Business Park" near S 150th St and Shepard St (RES. R26-0165). We ran into access problems with the city's own records this week and couldn't verify results well enough to report them as fact. We'll keep after it and report the outcomes once we can confirm them.

The Council's next regular meeting is Tuesday, September 15, at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Papillion City Hall, 122 E. 3rd St. As always, public hearings mean you can speak at the podium on any posted item, written comment goes through the City Clerk ahead of time, and there's a Comments from the Floor period for anything else. That same Tuesday, you can also register to vote at the library. The League of Women Voters of Greater Omaha will be at Sump Memorial Library, 222 N. Jefferson St., from 10 a.m. to noon for Voter Registration Day. The timing matters this year: Mayor David Black isn't seeking re-election after 17 years in office, so Papillion voters will pick a new mayor on the November 3 general election ballot for the first time since he took office.
