A short, quiet-ish week in town, but an important one for voters: early voting for the November 3 election begins Monday, and the City Council meets Tuesday night. There are also a few easy family outings on the library calendar. Here's what's new.

🏗️ Development & Business

More Tower District businesses are in the pipeline. Grow Omaha reports that Ref's Sports Bar plans to add a third location in the Tower District (the 120-acre mixed-use project at 84th and Highway 370), with an opening targeted for late spring 2027. New Horizon Academy also plans a daycare and preschool building in the district. Both are still plans, so watch for construction and opening announcements. Grow Omaha, new restaurants

Early voting for the November 3 general election starts Monday, October 5. You can vote early at the Sarpy County Election Commission, 1102 E. 1st St., and the deadline to request an early ballot by mail is October 23. Papillion voters will choose a new mayor this year, with City Council President Bob Stubbe and nonprofit executive Joe Hunter on the ballot to succeed Mayor David Black. The City Council meets Tuesday, October 6, at 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Papillion City Hall, 122 E. 3rd St. The agenda is posted on the city's Agenda Center, so check it before you go. Want to weigh in on anything posted, whether you support it or not? Show up and speak at the podium during a public hearing or Comments from the Floor, or send written comment to the City Clerk ahead of time.

Still unconfirmed: three items from the September 1 Council meeting. The "Schram 84" rezoning near S. 84th St. and Schram Rd. (ORD. 2098), the final vote on the animal care ordinance (ORD. 2095), and the preliminary plat for "Dowd's Business Park" near S. 150th St. and Shepard St. (RES. R26-0165) remain unresolved in the public records we can reach. We'll report outcomes as soon as we can confirm them.
