Scooter’s Coffee just broke ground on a $40 million distribution hub on the city's south edge, the City Council has a busy public-hearing night on the calendar, and there's baseball, theater, and a farmers market all packed into the next seven days. Scooter's Coffee breaks ground on a $40M distribution center in Papillion. Nebraska-founded Scooter's Coffee has broken ground on a new 154,400-square-foot cold-storage distribution center at 11656 S. 158th St., built in partnership with ARCO National Construction and developer Scannell Properties. The facility will combine warehouse, freezer, and office space, initially supporting more than 330 Scooter's coffeehouses with room to scale to over 700. Scannell notes the site sits right off the I-80 corridor with expressway visibility, includes 16 dock doors and parking for 50 trailers, and is built to allow future expansion. It's expected to be the largest of Scooter's Omaha-area distribution centers and the second-largest in its national network, with completion targeted for June 2027.
A 110-acre mixed-use vision for the Highway 370 corridor. Plans continue to circulate for Papillion Commons, an estimated $113 million mixed-use development proposed on roughly 110 acres between 84th and 90th Streets, north of Highway 370. As reported earlier this year, preliminary concepts include apartments, retail, office space, restaurants, a hotel, an assisted-living facility, a daycare, a movie theater, and trail, park, and plaza space — on a corner that's currently home to a water tower and farm fields. 🏛️ Local Politics & Civic News
City Council meets Tuesday, July 21 at 7 p.m. with a public-hearing agenda. The regular meeting takes place in the Council Chambers at Papillion City Hall, 122 E. 3rd St. On the docket:
Liquor license ordinance (ORD. 2091). The Council will hold a public hearing to consider amending § 81-4 of the Papillion Municipal Code to allow for temporary expansions of liquor licenses and to bring the code in line with state statute.
2026 Annexation No. 1 package. A set of city-initiated public-hearing items covers annexing certain real estate near the Highway 370 Industrial Park / Papillion Professional Park area, updating the official city Zoning Map to apply Papillion's regulations to the annexed land, and amending § 205-11 to revise the definition of "Substantial Improvement."

🌳 Around Papillion
Road work season is here. Street improvements are underway across several neighborhoods as part of the City's Pavement Management Plan. Check the city site to see which streets are on the list this year.
Water meter swaps continue. The Papillion Water Department has contracted Eyman Plumbing to replace 500 water meters across its service area — worth a heads-up if crews show up in your neighborhood.
Now hiring first responders. The Papillion Fire Department is accepting applications for new and lateral firefighters, and PFD is again hosting free community hydrant parties around town this summer.
